Partner Spotlight: Meet Women Win

Welcome to The Spotlight! We are so excited to shine a little light on the partners who have made the 2022 Equality Summit possible through their generous support. Equal Playing Field is a collective of change-makers from around the world, and it takes everyone from individual volunteers to corporate donors to fight for opportunity, equality, and respect within the world of sport.

What is Women Win and what type of work do you do?

Women Win is a global multi-dimensional women’s fund guided by the vision of a future where every girl and woman* exercise their rights. Our intra and cross sector collaborations with a wide variety of girl’s and women’s rights organisations, community-based organisations, corporations, sport bodies and government agencies are essential in achieving our vision. The core of Women Win’s work is built on the guiding principle of listening to and leveraging the rich expertise of a global portfolio of local implementing partners, who are deeply rooted in the communities.

In 2021, Women Win supported and collaborated with 102 local partners in 51 countries globally. These partners actively support the empowerment, rights and justice of all cis and trans girls and women, non-binary people, and other underrepresented groups such as black and people of colour, LGBTQIA+, refugees and other marginalised communities with or without disabilities.

What does the phrase “equal playing field” mean to you and your organization?

For Women Win, an equal playing field means that the folks who are being impacted by issues of injustice and inequality around the world have access to the tools and resources they need to create change at the individual, institution and systemic level. Whether its the fight for equal pay as female footballers at the federation level, exercising reproductive rights in Kenya through life skill and sport programs or creating more gender equitable and inclusive sport clubs for girls, women and non-binary individuals, we believe that activists, organizations and movements must be at the center and forefront of the work. Our role is to listen and support when and where is needed. On an equal playing field, we are all working collaboratively and realizing our full potential.
